Hi my friends. First of all sorry for the lack of updates in here. I became a father a few weeks ago and I am now the proud father of a little boy named Kristian :) BUT, I have been able to do a bit of Oettinger restoration as well.

The car has started and is running all ok. The wings, doors and frontspoiler is fitted but we have a small problem with the wheelarches and the gasket that goes between the body and the BBS kit. I ordered a few years back from Mecatechnic a white gasket but I am not sure if it is the white (blanc) or the ivory white (ivoire) I ordered... The one I have now does not go well against the L90E color so I was wondering if anyone out there had any suggestions on how to make the transition between the BBS kit and the body as good as possible... I have been thinking about not using the gasket but I'm not sure if that is wise since it was fitted there originally... Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

there is many colors : black, blue, white, ivory, red ... the right color part is white, number VA12900KW (not ivory) and is ok with L90E !

a friend ordered this color and is perfect, you have just to cut a little in the width

used a seal is recommended ;)

Thank you so much Tony :) Below you can see a picture of the gasket I have now against the car. I personally do not like the colordifference between these two.. The gasket is much whiter than the car... What do you guys think?

I believe this is the white/blanc but I am not sure... It is whiter than L90E as I believe the ivory would be more yellow right? I tried to contact Okrasa82 and ask him about what kind of seal he used on his Oettinger but haven't received any answer. On the last post in his thread "Renaissance" there is a picture of his Oettinger with the BBS kit on and the transition between the BBS kit and body is hardly noticeable...

it's right.

A friend mounted the white and this does not shock, may be that this is a function of the light ?

Maybe... Perhaps the gaskets that Mecatechnic sells now are of a different color than when I ordered mine a couple of years ago? Anyways... I don't feel like using this gasket and will have to investigate a bit further. If someone out there has a small bit of this and ivorygasket lying around I would really appreciate it if they could mail me a sample of both. I will pay for postage so I can check the colordifferences...

Hi my friends. I have a slight problem... I have tried to get in touch with someone at Mecatechnic for some time now. I even placed an order in their system and I get automatic mails telling me how much the order will be but not with shipping. When mailing them and asking about how much shipping will be I get no response... I have mailed severeal times with no response and it is quite frustrating...

My question: would anyone of you French speaking Oettingerfans be willing to buy two white and two ivory seals from them and ship to me? I would gladly pay all expenses and I can do PayPal or wiretransfer... I am so close finishing my Oettinger and this is one of the last parts I need... Thanks in advance :)

Did you find a way to get your seals kits? If it's still open you can send me a personal message.

So... did you finally get an answer from Mecatechnic or someone on the forum helped you to get in touch with them ?

Yes I finally got in touch with them and I ordered the white gasket but the difference in color is too much so I will need to paint the gasket in the right color before I remount the BBS kit... Almost done now... Just this final piece of the puzzle and my Oettinger will be ready:-)

My friends!! For the first time in four years I finally took my Oettinger out for a ride. It is very closed to being finished now with only some few minor stuff to do. It was great to finally feel the Oettinger power again and the car goes even better than before I started restoring it.

I would like to thank you guys here in this forum for all the help you have given me through the years. Without you, this task would have been close to impossible. Every time I have had a problem or question you guys have been right there to offer help or advice. That is truly amazing and I thank you all for being so nice and helpful. I will of course update this post with pictures of my Oettinger when it's done but for now... Here's a picture when my Oettinger said "Hello" to my other GTi ;-) Once again... THANK YOU SO MUCH EVERYBODY!!!!!!!!! YOU GUYS RULE!!!!!!!!!!!!
