Dimensions on seal around radial axle on FP transmission

I tried my Oettinger today for the first time in 4 years but after the ride I noticed transmissionfluid leaking. So I took out the transmission and discovered that the seal around the radialaxle was to big. The axle measures around 21mm but the seal has the dimensions 23,9x40x8... Any ideas?

Looks like the part I'm questioning has part# b 020 311 113 and is marked with dimensions 40x8. Is this the correct part to be used with the FP transmission? I just can't understand why it is too big...

hello,
It's normal, you don't have the right seal !
The seal 23,9X40X8 is used on the 2Y boxes (for Golf MK2 16V).
For the FP gearbox, you need a seal 22X40X8(or 7) !

The VW part number is : 020 311 113
But personly, I buy mines by TTO and the number code is D087 !
