Hello from Germany

Hello to all,
some weeks before BILS has given a link to me. He showed me the discussion about the early GTI in 1976 and 1977.
Thats a very interesting topic...so i will start and tell something about me and my MK1.
My name is matthias and i live in the east of germany. I'm owner of a GTI from 1983 (see attached files) lhasa and nearly original. In summer i'm using it some days...
But in 2006 i've found a early GTI from first owner...GTI was built in 11/1976, so it's modell 77.
Since this time it is on restauration

I've got it in parts packed in boxes and missing important parts, body was wracked. Since 2006 i've searched and found some early 177/178 GTI in bad condition for spending parts. So i've seen the differences between the first years of production.
I have found some owners of early 176/177/178 GTI and made a list of them...and stay in contact with them.
The people live cross europe...
So thats why i'm writing in english...i'm sorry but can't speek french...but i try reading...automatic translater is no option...offen it makes waste

If someone is interested in to read something about my early GTI, so you can find more on
http://www.golf1-ig.de
When BILS will be back next week he will put in some news about 176/177 GTI ive sent to him...
Best regards
Matthias

After a little accident the GTI got new color and Pirelli details.
By the way...the GTI is one of the last, which was built. It was built at the end of 1983 and was on street first time on march 1984

Hello Matthias!
I'm really happy to read that you did your presentation on a "French speaking Forum for GTI mk1"!
It's not common at all for a German spearker to do so!!
You did a great job for the "ur-gti" owners in all Europe up to now giving the chance to anybody to find spares parts or better knowledge about GTI from first models years!
The Käfer/beetle world has some great common places to exchange the information world wide (i.e. Thesamba/ callook loundge).
I don't how or where we could start such a kind of "world wide original golf gti mk1". In any case you started this !
About Wolfsburg meeting this year, I will not be there this year but... I will come! For sure!
One question, don't you get a Rallye mk2 too? You could add a picture of it.

Hello Matthias !
I'm very happy that you have submitted yourself on this forum !
I was present at the Wolfsburg meeting in 2009 with the Belgian and French Golf GTI Classic Club. It's possible that we have met each other !
The Golf GTI Classic Club envisages to go again to this beautiful meeting ... maybe next year !
I've read, several times ... yes !!!

, your superb post of the restauration of your GTI 76 on golf1-ig.de !
This one is very interesting for me due to the fact that I'm also an owner of a GTI 76 and I'will restore it shortly.
Some parts of mine are missing !

Can you still find some specific parts of 76 ?

@Bils:
Oh no...not so much honor..i like to give the information i have to you and all who are interested in.
We all have fun with Golf MK1...so why not
And yes...i had a MK2 Rallye...it was a rusty car from swizerland. I've made a little restauration...with new color and made it back in original condition. But i've sold this car (and some of my MK1) in reason of buying a old house
@Andy:
Was great to meet so many people from france/belgium with great cars in WOB!
I had some fine small talk with some owners...possible with you, too

Some of you had bought some parts from mine...i have had sold parts in 2009.
I remember one man, who had bought 2 new doors from mine

And you have a GTI from 1976, really? Fantastic...is it a 176 or 177 model?
So please show me some pictures....to get some missing parts is difficult...which parts are missing?
Best regards
Matthias
